A nature trail around the lake is a sanctuary for over 130 different bird species including kingfishers, osprey, buzzards, eagles, doves, storks and babets. The forested area around Lake Duluti is also home to many reptiles such as snakes and lizards. Fishing and bird watching is popular in the Duluti area. Guided nature walks or canoeing can be arranged. Wonderful views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro can often be seen.

Glide across the smooth surface of this small Crater Lake and view bird-life seldom seen; giant kingfisher, fish eagle, darters and many more. Surrounded by the forested crater walls this is a very special and quite canoeing experience. View hundreds of cattle egrets returning to an island in the lake to roost for the nigh.

Hike under the canopy of the Lake Duluti forest on the shores of the Lake. From this location you have the perfect opportunity to view both forest and water birds. Experienced guides will assist you in identifying all the lesser known birds and trees.

The area is quiet popular with cultural tourism take time to visit the local market within the area. A trip to Mount Meru can be arranged upon request. Also you can visit a local primary school and experience the Tanzanian education and offer support as you pleased.
